Details

1. What was the inspiration behind this bathroom design?
We wanted to create something that felt rich and grounded, but still fresh. The deep, moody walls set the tone, and from there we brought in timeless elements like marble and a freestanding bath. It’s that balance of classic character and clean, modern touches that really pulled the space together.
2. Why did you choose brushed brass brassware for this space?
We’d used brushed brass in one of the client’s previous bathrooms too, so it felt like part of the home’s story. It’s a finish that just made sense here - it brings a subtle warmth that softens the bold wall colour and complements the cooler tones in the marble. Visually, it adds the right amount of contrast while keeping things minimal and refined. It also has that perfect balance of classic and contemporary, which worked really well with the overall feel we were after.

3. The freestanding bathtub and brushed brass floor-mounted tap are standout features—what was the thought process behind their selection?
With the space we had to work with, we knew from the start that the bath needed to be the centrepiece. Pairing it with a freestanding mixer gave us the perfect blend of design and function. Together, they sit beautifully in the space, bringing a quiet sense of elegance and style.
4. The bathroom incorporates both classic and contemporary styles—how did you achieve this balance?

We achieved the right balance by pairing marble tiles with darker wall tones to create contrast. The marble and double-basin vanity brings in a classic feel, while the Crittall-style enclosure keeps things feeling modern. It’s a great bridge between the two — inspired by industrial design, the grid format adds a modern yet timeless touch.
5. What advice would you give to someone considering brushed brass fixtures in their own home?

Brushed brass elevates a space; it’s warm and elegant. If you’re thinking about it, go for it and make it a feature! Use it across your taps, handles, and accessories, keeping everything cohesive.
