This range takes its inspiration from the groundbreaking Millionth Machine, invented by Sir Joseph Whitworth in the 1840s. Unlike traditional callipers and rulers, which measure by sight, Whitworth’s machine measured by touch, a technique known as end measurement. 

Our range takes its name from the machine’s extraordinary precision, measured to the sixth decimal place - one millionth of an inch.
